Robert Sherwood was a founding member, along with Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley, of the Algonquin Club, the famed, ad hoc gathering of many of the literary world's brightest lights during the 20s. Dorothy Parker once quipped that when she, Robert Benchley and the very tall Robert Sherwood walked down the street that they looked like a ‘walking pipe organ!’
